@029622558 No, the two plugs is because the hard drive needs more power than only one USB port can deliver. Some 2.5″ USB drives give you the option to use a separate power supply for the drive, in which case only one USB port would be required.
@029622558 It doesn’t work like that. One plug has the power and the data, and the other plug has just power so that you can get another 500mA to the enclosure. Of course, nothing is stopping you from getting this extra power from a second computer, or a wall adapter, etc…
In fact, the crappy Chinese external HDD enclosure is required more power by some reason. In my office, I’m using the same computer, the one that made by Hitachi is working fine but the enclosure+320GB HDD are not work with this computer.
i think a swedish electrinics and hobby store (simular to american radio shack) have the same external HDD cabinette for aboute 20-19 euros (200 skr) maybe should buy one just need to get a 2.5 hard drive. but i gues i allways could wait untill my school begins to junk ther old laptops and get a free hard drive one from one of those.
External hard drives are the best thing next to flash SD cards really…that’s one thing I liked about the Xbox360, the hard drive is external…..easy to move from one console to another..and these external drives make it GREAT for transferring data from computer to computer. SATA also makes things great too….both 3.5″ and 2.5″ laptop and desktop drives work on it unlike with IDE. Also, SSD would work. So if you wanted to clone a hard drive, these are great b/c u can do 2.5″ and 3.5″
I believe the another reason why they give a usb cable with 2 plugs because you can plug it in 2 computers at the same time. I’ve never try but someone was told me like that.

@DvdXploitr
Well, in German we say “eight-and-ninety” instead of ninety-eight. So it’s easy to get that confused.
